Unexpected developments for Cronulla Sharks Team…

Cronulla Sharks starts search for new stadium naming rights partner

The NRL’s Cronulla Sharks are inviting potential sponsors to apply to gain the exclusive naming rights for their stadium following the end of the longstanding partnership with ASX-listed betting agency PointsBet.

Their home venue, Sharks Stadium, sits in Sydney’s south and is surrounded by a new billion-dollar residential, retail and dining precinct.

The Sharks have just completed one of their most successful seasons on record, qualifying for the finals in four grades, including an NRL prelim after maintaining a top four position all season and an NRLW Grand Final berth in only their second year in the competition. The club achieved record membership and sold out most of its NRL home games.

While PointsBet’s six-year naming rights deal has ended, the company is set to enter a new category exclusive partnership with the Sharks to suit their new marketing strategy, brought about by the changing regulatory environment around gambling advertising.

PointsBet Chief Executive Andrew Catterall previously commented on their highly successful stadium naming rights partnership which “delivered valuable brand exposure and return on investment to our business”.

Announcing the availability of the naming rights, Sharks Chief Executive, Dino Mezzatesta stated “the naming rights to Sharks Stadium present a prime opportunity to engage millions of fans through live sport, entertainment, and hospitality. It has proven to deliver high-value brand exposure to local and national audiences, including through multiple NRL broadcast partners and growing visitation in a thriving year-round precinct.

“This is a great time to be partnering with the Sharks and our success this season has set a solid platform for continued growth in 2025 and beyond. The NRL continues to achieve growth across its key performance metrics including attendance, viewership, and brand health. We are confident of attracting a new profiled brand to take over the exclusive naming rights to Sharks Stadium.”

As part of their high-impact commercial assets, the Sharks have also released to market their NRL and NRLW front of shorts partnership. On-field signage is also available for the 2025 NRL season.

Sharks Stadium is home to the Sharks’ NRL and NRLW teams and presents up to 51 events a year spanning Sharks NRL and NRLW home games, junior rugby league, and an array of special community and corporate events.
